New Valley Church began with a deep desire to see lives changed by God's grace. It began with a hunger to see people who were far from God come to know him, and to see people who know him be so moved by the gospel (good news) that they have a great love for God and others. It began with a desire to be an authentic people - the gospel frees us from self-righteousness, judgmentalism, and pretending to be someone we aren't. This is the kind of church we are continually striving to be.
For several years Scott believed God was preparing him to "plant a church" (start a new congregation instead of pastoring an existing one). He and Becky considered starting that work in Cincinnati since he was an associate pastor at a church there. However, through a wild set of God-ordained circumstances, in June of 2003, the Browns moved to Phoenix with a team of people from Ohio (which included our worship pastor Carson Joyner and Loren & Lauren Kutsko) to plant in the Southeast Valley, where they didn't know anyone. The church started as a Bible study in the Browns' living room. In October of 2004, our first "public" worship service was held at Valley Christian High School's cafeteria. The church continued to grow and meet there and three years later we moved to our current location.
Our story continues and in many ways is really just beginning. We are growing and want to continue to grow - come be a part of our story.
